STILL SHAKY didn’t start as a firm goal. It simply began with the idea of doing a book, and the word play in the title. STILL is visual — my photographs, and stills from my videos. And SHAKY comes from the tremors I’ve had as long as I can remember. This book has allowed me to reflect on the insecurities along my path, whether they’ve been left behind or are still with me, and especially those I’ve dealt with while making the book. They are in the background of my art, have fueled my and my work’s development, and planted the seed from which this book grew. Despite the similarities in format, I don’t see this book as an anthology. The book itself is building bridges between me and my work. Some were intended, while others surprised even me. There’s no beginning nor end to the story. It’s ultimately about self-observation, what STILL SHAKY has taught me about myself.
